Creating subcategories

For categories which have subcategories the icon to create a new category is available to click. But where no subcategory is there, it's not available. Question is why? A better question is how did i create a subcategory in the first place if the icon was not available! Has anyone worked out the logic?

Dear Paul,

To create a sub-category first ensure that the parent category has no products in it. You will then find that the required icon will appear.

I have products in the parent as you state but want to split them all out into subcategories.

I have now done this by creating a new parent with the same name plus required subcategories but keep all hidden/inactive. Then assign the products to the new subcategories whilst keeping them in the old. Then finally delete the old and activate the new.

I Have Created A Sub Catagory. What I Cant Seem To Do Is Add An Image To That Catagory On The Page. Ie, I Want To Put A Clickable Image In The Page List Not The Block List.

Dear Rob,

When you have created a new category, simply select the tab titled 'content' where you will see a field titled 'Thumbnail image' where you can add an image.
