If you are using PayPal Pro, you should have received several communications from PayPal regarding 3D Secure. Here is an example of an email sent to a Bluepark client last month:

We’ve noticed that you haven’t yet set up 3-D Secure on your website, so we want to recommend that you do this as soon as possible. Please remember that as of 21st January 2010, you will not be able to process Maestro payments through UK Website Payments Pro – Direct Credit Card Payments without 3-D Secure technology.

    What is 3-D Secure?

3-D Secure is the technology behind MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa, which will helps reduce the risk of chargebacks and add an extra layer of security to your business. From 21st January 2010, 3-D Secure will be essential for processing Maestro payments through UK Website Payments Pro – Direct Credit Card Payments. If you don't have 3-D Secure, these payments will be declined.

    Get started now

You can set up 3-D Secure free of charge through PayPal or Cardinal Commerce, our chosen 3-D Secure technology provider. Avoid disruption to your business and get started now - simply register to receive details of the next steps.

Transfer money online in seconds with PayPal money transfer. All you need is an email address.

    Yours sincerely,

    PayPal
The deadline for Maestro was originally 1st January, but it has since been moved to 21st January - so there's still plenty of time to sign up with Cardinal Commerce. I received confirmation from Cardinal today that 4 Bluepark clients are already processing new orders via this system, so it can be implemented very quickly.

Of which we are one. In truth there is very little to do, and there is no extra charge. Simply register with Cardinal as instructed, and they will send you full details.

This subject was originally raised back in July 2009

I received a mail from paypal today (I use paypal pro) - and I just wondered if anyone else does and what they are doing regarding this...... e-mail was as follows..... As of 1 January 2010, due to MasterCard rules, all Maestro payments you receive through UK Website Payments Pro will need to be processed via 3-D Secure.

Rich said he would aim to get this integrated into Bluepark before 2010 and true to his word this was completed at the end of 2009.

As Rich said you should have received e-mails from Paypal Pro telling you it is free of charge to implement this and how to register. Once registered the latest updates in Bluepark Admin tells you to simply enter your Processor ID, Merchant ID and Transaction Password on the PayPal tab in Configuration.

        Job done.
        Regards,

        Dave
