I am trying to clean up my unused images on the server, is there a way or could there be a way of having a tick box enabled so I can tick several images that are not needed, then delete..........good idea?......or unused images showing up in a different colour?

This has been discussed before... no easy way I'm afraid. Our image folders are a right mess and we could do with an easier way of sorting them.
I'm not sure how many you have, but if you have a reasonably small number of images, you could access via FTP in internet explorer which makes it a little easier to see what's what. -
Yeah there must be an easier way to say which images aren't needed. I started deleting some of mine the other week, but inevitably deleted some of the ones in use to!
Little annoying, but could do with sorting mine toComment

I put image in their own named folder....but when you tick the auto button to do large/main/thumbnail etc, that's when it puts them where it wants, in products folder, which has over 2,500 in now, this makes it slow to open.....hmmmmComment

You could export the product database with image names only and then sort the spreadsheet in alphabetical sequence giving you a list of all live images. Then using an FTP program such as CuteFTP you can then FTP the site and navigate to the image folders which it should display in alphabetical sequence. Cross reference this with the spreadsheet and delete images which don't appear on the spreadsheet. FTP will also allow you to delete in bulk.
Just in case download all images to your PC first.
Not an ideal solution especially since you need to do it 4 times for each image (large/main/thumbnail/basket) but just another idea.Regards,

Must agree it would certainly make the painstaking task of sorting images a lot easier if there was a checkbox or similar to enable us to delete unused images in one fell swoop... especially if any unused images are highlighted
This a task that I have been putting off for agesComment
