Hidden Catergories

Just a thought - do you use hidden catergories on your site to improve your search engine results? I made a catergory the other day for a search term i thought people would be searching for and i've had some hits for it already. I can see its on page 1 of google too.

Can I create an unlimited number, or is this likely to effect me some other way?

I thought you would've been penalised by Google for this. May be I'm wrong.
