Creating a google feed, Checked forum and still no idea.....

I have read all of the threads about it and still can not get my head around it, can someone tell me like I was 5 how to do it please?

I have exported the csv and it only show 200 odd products where the current one in google shopping has 376 items.

If there is someone willing to talk me through it that would be great!

So you possibly have 2 issues... not all your products are included and errors. You don't seem sure so I would start by seeing if products are missing from the export. I usually open the text file, do 'select all' and paste it into excel to have a really good look. So check to see things like if products are actually missing or is it product variants that are missing. That would be the first thing I would check. Check the export options you have ticked and unticked.... is that affecting anything. For example if you have it ticked that products without a price or without a meta description are excluded then check if products are missing because data is missing or incomplete etc....

As for errors, its a bit too vague to be able to answer. What errors and when and where.

In advanced options of your feed in BP check the exclude tick boxes. This is where you can exclude items with no price, no stock, no category etc and this may account for why you have some items missing.

Also in file format check you have it set to comma, double quotes.

Finally in your google account make sure use quoted fields are set to yes. See the following

With regards to google feeds. I have mine setup currently within my merchant centre, this pulls the data once a week from my EKM shops url. I gather from looking at some of the comments here, that is not possible with BP and that i am going to have to manually do this with the system.

is this correct ?

It depends what level you are on, if you are on Enterprise park you can set BP to load your Google feed on to your user directory at whatever frequency you like and then set Google to pick it up from the full url of that file, if you don't have automated Data Scheduling you will have to make and save the file to the user directory manually and again point Google to the full url.

Thats disappointing to hear. It would be the middle service i would be looking to move onto

It only takes acouple of cklicks to do it manually and if you only want to update once a week that's perhaps 2 minutes a week.

There is a way to do it with the lower pacakges. Through File Manager, create a folder e.g. googlebase, then in Product Export create your Googlebase file and download it to you PC then upload it the folder you have just created. Then point your Googlebase account to this location and schedule it to be picked up daily or weekly (I prefer weekly).

e.g. www.yourdomain.co.uk/user/googlebase/yourfile.txt


Whenever you add or remove products, just create a new Googlebase file and replace the one in the folder.

The beauty of this method is that because it gets updated/refreshed weekly, your googlebase products never expire.
