    Where is my email server?

I have no idea so bear with me - I apologise if the terms are wrong so please do correct me and speak to me like I am a child, my kids know more about the internet than I do these days!! They are 8 and 9 - it's embarrassing.

So, I have my site domain registered with 123-reg.

My email is set up though Live Mail and I send/receive the sales@........ email through there.

Since yesterday I have not been able to send anything but I have been able to receive emails. However, when I log into 123-reg email, my sales@ address is not in there. So where is it?

It tells me to check the settings and I know they are correct so it must be the server - but I have no idea which server has my email. Can anyone tell me how I find out please. Thanks.

Hi, not sure if this is the same issue, but since early evening I haven't been able to connect to my bluepark mail servers through Outlook. I can reach them on my phone and on their webmail but not through outlook. I can access my other email accounts that are not hosted with BP on one of my other domain names - those are available through Outlook still just not the BP ones. I have written to Rich about this.

Pinkypie, are you using Outlook to send your emails? We have had the same problem sending today via outlook clients and have found that we needed to enable SMTP Authentication in Outlook Settings to get working again,

I was going to suggest the same. I've not had the problem this time, but a while ago we had issues with sending emails and this was the fix.

We have updated our SMTP mail server to the most recent version, which includes more strict/stringent rules with regard to sending and receiving emails. This will ultimately mean less spam for everyone and less chance of one of our servers being blacklisted for breaking any rules.

A few people have noted a problem, using Outlook, in terms of SENDING email:

            Code:
HELO should be a FQDN or address literal (See RFC 2821 4.1.1.1)
The mail server is technically right - but some of our Outlook users employ something called "POP before SMTP", and likely haven't ticked the following:

            Code:
            SMTP requires authentication
We do recommend that this is ticked for maximum compatibility, but we have also made a slight modification to our configuration this evening which may also fix the problem without any action being taken.

Please try again, and let me know how you get on. If the error above persists, please tick the "SMTP requires authentication" box in your email account settings.

Your problem appears to be unique, I can see normal activity on your server in terms of receiving email (we haven't updated this side of the service at all). I have turned on extended logging, please try again and hopefully we can find out more.

As you can connect to your Bluepark accounts using anything other than Outlook, there must be a specific issue affecting Outlook on your PC.

Well whatever you have done Rich it has certainly helped eliminate Spam for us today, so thank you!

I use Thunderbird and have been having the following problem since Saturday afternoon-ish. This is the error message I get -
"Unable to establish TLS connection to POP3 server. The server may be down or may be incorrectly configured. Please verify the correct configuration in the Server Settings for your mail server in the Account Settings window and try again"

I haven't changed any settings and the email has been working fine for 2 months!

                    Any suggestions please?

                    Regards,
                    Col.

I still can't receive the email from BP email addresses, I can from my addresses hosted with 1and1. I can see them on my phone but obviously using my phone is not a long term solution. It all worked yesterday morning OK. I went out for the afternoon, came back and now can't get at my BP emails.

To clarify I cannot RECEIVE emails through outlook, nor can I send them although Test messages are being sent out as I can see them on my phone.

This sounds like the problem I am having - are you having problems sending or receiving or both?

Regarding the difficulty in connecting for some people - I believe I know what the problem is and will hopefully have a fix in the next couple of hours.
