Keeping news (not using blog) but blog mentioned in text

Hi Deefer

Assuming the 'Home > Blog' that you're talking about is the breadcrumb at the top of news story pages, this can be turned off altogether in Configuration > News Options > Breadcrumb trail (choose Disabled).

If you just want to change the word Blog, leave the breadcrumb enabled and rename it in Content menu > News Categories > (Click on 'Blog') then rename the Category Title.

No idea why your 5 news stories would be repeating though!

Thanks Steve, but actually am wondering if Rich meant to do it... if you see what I mean. Maybe an oversight? If people pick to use blog then yes, the wording should be blog but if we pick/stick with news the wording should reflect that.

Or is it just me who is sticking with news, so no one else will be bothered

Ah, see what you mean. Yes, I guess it would make sense if the 'Blog' category changed to 'News' when people chose News mode. I'm going to set aside some time to play with Blog mode to get a fuller idea of how the two compare.

Think the main difference between a blog and news is that a blog is interactive - people can leave comments.

Hi Deefer,
Certainly for the time-being I would like to stick with news. Maybe in a few months I will be ready to blog on site, but I would rather wait 'till I'm ready (which will be when I'm up to speed with Twitter & Pinterest).
I'm sure I will catch up and make use of this feature at some stage: but for now I would prefer that customers see this as a 'news' page and not a blog that isn't working.

All of the references to "Blog" that you've mentioned are the default blog landing page/category in the Blog Categories section. Rename that category to News, if you prefer. We put it in as "Blog" by default, as this will be the most popular choice.

Thanks Rich... got it. Blog now says Site News

On my news page though I am getting the 5 most recent news stories and then they are repeated again as more news... the same 5 news stories.

That means you've got the Recent Posts/Latest News block assigned to the page, just take it off.
