    Terms & Conditions

With the "must accept T&C" feature disabled the checkout is two pages - entering the details on page 1, then taking the payment on page 2

But with the "must accept T&C" feature enabled the checkout is three pages - entering the details on page 1, accepting the T&C's on page 2, then taking the payment on page 3

Wanting the customer is something that most of us would (should) want the customer to do, so having a whole extra page of the checkout just to accept the T&Cs seems a total waste - why can't this just be added to page 1 instead...?

Historically, the T&C checkbox has always been on the final page of checkout. Now, with so many ways to complete the checkout process, that endpoint can come at various points (on-site order processing, off-site options like PayPal, does an order have "additions" forms, etc.).

In order to move the checkbox to the first page, we'll have to remove it from literally every section of the checkout procedure, it's a very large and complex coding job. For this reason, it's not a quick fix.

You say that, but all I hear is "our code would be much simpler and more efficient if this bit was all in one place instead of multiple pages"... lol...

But ok sure, it's not exactly high priority (though losing 1/3rd of the checkout pages is a definite advantage in terms of reducing customer dropouts, and the whole point of e-commerce software is to make sales). So it would be nice to do at some point...

Im resurrecting this because I just had a customer who had to ring us because she was confused at this second page, as she had missed the tick box, which is easily done for some less able people, and then she just kept getting the message "please accept our terms & conditions" but not realising she had to tick the box.

As was said above this page is not necessary as the tick box should be on page one. It is detrimental to a quick checkout. Im taking off my terms and conditions for now. BLUEPARK, can this please be sorted out so it is one page less at checkout with Terms & Conditions switched on?

        Thanks.

Appreciate this an old thread but has there ever been a resolution. While currently looking at an overhaul of our site it seems this issue is still present with V2 themes.

          To clarify our issue :
If customer is payment by credit card its not an major issue, even if they dont tick the terms box on the first checkout page, when they then have to enter the card details they must tick the box before it lets them proceed.
Our issue is when the customer chooses Paypal, if they dont tick the terms box box they will still proceed to paypal, complete their details and then return to the site - its at this point they then have to click the terms box to complete the sale. We have a high percentage of customers who dont realise the sale hasnt been completed when returning from Paypal - this is probably our biggest source of failed baskets and worse in that the customer thinks they completed the sale.

Have other users found a method to minimise this issue - ideally it would seem logical that the terms tick box has to ticked before bluepark lets them proceed to the next page.

This seems to be very common issue with other sites too.

It happens on a lot of sites (which are not BP) but if you pay attention to what you're doing then it is obvious the sale isn't finished.

If someone pays regularly with Paypal they should be fully aware that a sale isn't complete until they have completed that final confirm back on the retailers website.
