can you tell me if its possible to have a section for customer product reviews on the basic retail package..?

No, I'm afraid that you need to upgrade to the Business Package to enable the product reviews functionality.
In the interim, you can of course put any product reviews you have received in the product text, but you won't be able to have the link from you product to the product feedback form.
