Free Gift with Purchase up to a given amount

Odd one this, but is there a way to set up a discount so customers get a free gift with purchase up to a certain order value? The reason for this is I want to offer a better gift with purchase if they spend over £75. The plan is Free Basic Product on orders up to £75, Free Super Duper Product on orders over £75. I will be applying this to a user group so it cannot use a coupon code.

I'd be interested to know a way to do that too. One of my sites, www.beveragegroup.co.uk, advertises a free gift with orders over a certain amount. No way of them actualy claiming one though.

Sadly there was was no way to do what I wanted with a sliding scale of free gift. I even tried creating two different discounts but if a product appears in one discount, it can't also appear in another and be assigned to a group. In the end I had to make it a coupon code and only let the members of the group know what the code was.

I have so many ideas for incentives but the discount manager is pretty limited so can't put any into action. Plus the promotion side needs more flexibility to make the discounts more obvious.

Just revisiting this to see if anyone has any further ideas as to how we can offer different gifts depending on level of spend, i.e spend £25 get a free X, spend £50 get a free Y (instead of X, not as well as). It would also be good if we could have a choice of gifts for another promotion, i.e spend X get a free something, choose from type A or type B.

          You could try

Discount A ' create qualifying Threshold' value, with free gift x , set threshold to value £5+ second value at £25+, tick invalidate last threshold (this will limit it to £25) , set which products / cats it applies to , or all.

Discount B ' create qualifying Threshold' value, with free gift y , set threshold to value £26+ second value at £??+, tick invalidate last threshold (this will limit it to £??) , set which products / cats it applies to , or all.

To offer choice free gift, you might need to create a special product with option 1/2.

          should work.
