Ehanancement Request - Order Status Option: Processing

Is it possible to add a drop down option to the Status to show that orders are 'processing' and the customer emailed to be told this?

We have some items on Special Order and people are always emailing to ask why the order is still pending, if the status could read 'Processing' and the customer has been sent an email they would at least know something is happening with their order.

Could you not re-word "pending" to say "processing"?
We used to have a ecommerce shop based on oscommerce and I seem to think that "processing" was the default description for the status of an order before it was shipped - i.e as soon as the order was placed it was "processing".

I just think it would be handy to have processing as an extra for people who pay by cheque, once the cheque has been banked i could update to processing so the customer would know something is happening.

If we was able to change it to processing and an automated email sent the customer would know that the order was being dealt with rather than it just 'pending' for up to 2 weeks. It looks like you've not done anything with their order. Likewise it let's me know that I have dealt with that order and the goods have been ordered at the supplier.

Some people have pending orders and will come back and place the order a week or so later and the order can get missed if you are busy, at least of their was a different colour star while it was being processed it would stop orders being overlooked.

Likewise, when a cheque payment comes in you can change it to processing and know that customer has paid.

Looks like its just the 2 of us on this one so far but it must affect other people,
i have 6 orders at the moment which are cheque payments,
so far i know only one has sent a cheque, with other things going on it does get confusing, so to be able to mark it as processing would make it so much clearer.

I think it would be useful to have a couple more statuses (statii?), Processing and Picking, as we use the delayed pament method and it would show the customer some progress has been made when we mark the item as picked.

Regarding cheques, the yellow star does have a small "c" in it if the customer has chosen to pay by cheque when you look at the orders listings. Are you saying you want the customer to be able to see something to indicate this? I'm not sure "Processing" says anything more than "Pending" in this case. It might be better to say "Awaiting Payment Clearance" or something similar?

We use delayed payment too, so I'm in agreement with this. Showing the customer that their order is in packing would be good to calm the impatient ones. Coupled with the option to print off a picking list and I think we would be in 7th heaven. Easily pleased

                Cheers

Well I don't know if there is any mileage in re-awakening this thread but recently we seem to have a lot of customers emailing to ask for a progress report, which seems to me to speak of a need to have more than just pending as a status in the customer account or possibly a change in the order confirmation wording. I am thinking of a refer back to the product page - as each one of ours clearly states the delivery time. But not sure if I can do that since have never messed around with the confirmation email. These customers have all been on relatively short lead time product - 4 to 5 day delivery. The longer, made to measure, delivery does not seem to be a problem.

                  Any thoughts folks??

                    Hi Gill,

                    We've missed you...Welcome back

I agree that having more options for the order status would be good. We would only need 3 or 4 maximum but I know others would need more.

Another site we run which is non Bluepark allow something like 11 different settings
                    Regards,

                    Dave

                      Hi Dave,

Thanks for the welcome back. I've not really been away... just very busy. This is our busiest time of year, excluding the run up to Valentines Day and we are enjoying record levels of business. I am sure some of this is down to the wonderful make-over that Giles did for us. Anyway, glad you agree about the different options. Hopefully, Rich will notice that there is an interest in having the order status options expanded.

                      Bye for now

I agree, having the option to show an order status as processing would make things easier. we do get quite a few emails from customers asking what is happening with their order and why it shows as pending.

Me too. I'd also like to be able to change the status of an order to paid as well as this helps us at a glance know whether we need to chase failed payments etc.

With the other system we use they have just introduced the ability for us to be able to set our own status's and I have to say it is a godsend and probably the only feature I would miss!

Hi, just an observation but we changed the word "pending" to the phrase "in progress" and we have not had a customer chasing their order since
