I'm posting this in the hope that Rich might pick up on it.
I've been live on Bluepark for about 1 month now, with over 45,000 products, and everything is behaving really well. I'm thrilled with the rich feature set of Bluepark.
However, there is one area that just does not fit well with my business model, and that is quantity discounts.
Of the 45,000 products on my site, just a couple of hundred or so need to have a quantity discount available, along the lines of "Price for 1 is £10.99, Price for 10 or more is £9.99, Price for 50 or more is £8.99" etc (note that I'm using actual prices here, not percentage discounts).
The thing is, these discount offers are unique to a product, and vary enormously, both in the quantity thresholds, and the discounted prices.
I've tried (very hard) to achieve this with Pricing Codes, so a product with price code 'Z' gets allocated a particular set of quantity discounts etc
However, that is very unwieldy, and a nightmare to setup and keep on top of. I'm using it at the moment, but it's really too difficult to create new price codes for each combination, then allocate a product to that price code, etc.
What would be really perfect, is a set of thresholds within the Product record itself, so that I can edit a Product, and set its thresholds and the discounted prices for those thresholds. This would then only apply to that product. It would not be part of a global pricing code system. It would, however, need to be possible to import those discount values when doing a product import (since that's how my prices are updated on a daily basis).
Furthermore, it needs to be possible for the product details block to show a message for a product that has quantity discounts like:
"Buy 10 of these and pay just £9.99 each. Buy 50 of these and pay just £8.99 each"
- this means much more to customers than saying "Discount of 7% available when you buy 10 or more" - which is the sort of thing the existing system displays.
What do you think?
