    SSL Certificate

Do we need a SSL certificate even though we do not have an ecommerce website? www.theshuttershed.co.uk

My opinion is yes. Google are pushing for all sites to be sitewide https not just where you enter personal information. I believe you will HAVE to do it at some point so the sooner you do it the better.

With Let's Encrypt being free (not available on BP as of yet) and available with most self hosting providers we will only see more and more sites becoming sitewide https.

There has been talk of a slight slow down in sites using https but google is using https as a ranking signal now so I think they balance each other out and will only shift more in favour of https.

You don't *need* one. You might want to get one however.

We're not full HTTPS at the moment and it hasn't impacted our traffic as far as we can tell
