Feature request : Newsletter sign up

Following the changes made for GDPR on Bluepark, the only way visitors can sign up for a newsletter and give their consent is by registering as a full visitor (not guest) and providing their address.

This puts people off from requesting the newsletter.

It would be nice to have a custom newsletter block that only requires the visitor to supply their name and email address and tick a box to give their consent. Behind the scenes this could create a skeleton account to be used at a later date for orders.

This block shouldn't take Bluepark too long to develop.

I just have a form set up requesting name and email (here: https://www.pelennapatchworks.co.uk/newsletter.html) - it records the date the form was filled in so as far as I know fulfils the GDPR rules. You can just import the form data when using the Bluepark newsletter, or you can download them for using with another newsletter system.

Thanks for your reply. The only problem with importing details into bluepark is that the consent flag is not set and so you can't send the newsletter to the customer. May be bluepark could add this consent tick box to the type of fields you can add to a form if they can't create a new block?

Not sure what you mean (I might be being a bit dense!)? I don't use the information from the form to create new customer accounts, I simply import the email addresses using the Bluepark newsletter system's 'import from form' function to add to the email list. The form manager shows the date they signed up so is GDPR compliant, I assume that if they already have a user account without consent given then they don't get sent a newsletter, but most people using the form don't already have an account.

I see, so the "import" list bypasses the GDPR validation if the customer doesn't have an account. I must try this.
