IE8 Install With Caution

Why did I install IE8 when it was all working so well with IE7? In a mad moment I installed the new IE8, oops!

Should have waited. I'm glad to say our site and Bluepark works OK (albiet better with Compatibility Mode switched on). However, I'm increasingly comming accros sites which simply don't work at all!

I've also lost the ability to click on a link in Outlook and the browser pop's up with the page - I have to make sure that the browser is open first!

If anyone has had success, let me know - otherwise, take this as a warning and resist the temptation - its not worth it!

Hi, I have been using IE8 for about 2 weeks now albeit with no issues so far, Thats not to say there is none in the pipeline, I tried the beta last year and uninstalled within the day as it was sooooo bad, so i was wary of installing the final version but as i have said so far so good

I see that Windows Update is now trying to force the installation of IE8 as part of the important updates. I keep unselecting it, but one of these days I know I'll forget and install it by accident. Pretty sharp practice from MS, methinks?

Update: just read that you can hide updates by right-clicking, and they won't be selected any more, so I'll do that.

I have been using IE8 for about a month now and haven't had any issues so far (touch wood)

I have just read an article which suggests that if your PC is critical to you, wait for a while, but it's good to hear that you are not having any problems. Have you seen any benefits, David?

No not really, the main noticable thing is that when you open a new tab, it lists 9 sites that you visit regularly, and there is a favourites bar along the top, which I am not sure if IE7 had or not - other than that it's identical to IE7 from what I can see.

I've been using IE8 for a few weeks now with no problems, other than it does not live up to the hype about being fast... I find it is still slower than Firefox.
