Bug - Tracking information on backorders

    To replicate bug:

Have an order with 2 products, pick both items individually so that there are 2 separate dispatch notes (The 1st to go to the customer saying "here is product A, product B will follow", and the 2nd that will be printed and sit in the picking area until new stock comes in)

Now ship the first product and enter a tracking number for the delivery.

When you go into the "view dispatch note" area it has assigned the tracking number to the backordered item, not the item just shipped. Even though it is perfectly clear which one it should have been assigned to because you just shipped that item. I mean you entered the tracking number in the tracking box and specifically entered the full quantity in the "shipped" box of the item you were shipping and pressed enter. There is no ambiguity there.

I'm guessing it's because you marked the backorderd item as picked even though you couldn't have physically picked it as you hadn't got any stock.

We always make sure we don't mark backordered items as picked until we actually have the stock to pick.

Sure, although we've started un-picking picked items once we've printed the documentation but still have the same problem. We may be doing things in a slightly convoluted way (but the beauty of having a flexible system is that different people can use it how it suits them) but that's just the way that works for us.

The point is though that picking isn't shipping. Shipping is shipping. And delivery tracking numbers are assigned when you ship something, not when you pick it. So, yes, that is probably why it's doing it but it's still a bug... (that needs fixing please)

Sorry but if you know it’s a bug then email support so it’s logged / ticketed. Don’t post it here as it’s a community forum and there is no guarantee BP will see it !
        Regards,

        Dave
