V2 Help - Images have shrunk!

Hi! I moved over to a V2 theme last night but my images on the category pages, the "main image" have all shrunk and I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix them. Tried re-sizing them but all it does is increase the Large image on the product page, not when browsing through the category pages.

Also - in trying to figure it out, i've somehow taken off the "add to basket" button when on my mobile in the checkout page - bonus points if anyone can help with this too

Hi,

It's due to the random dimensions of your images combined with CSS's aspect-ratio being used (needed to keep all the text, buttons etc. in each of the boxes inline with each other) - to fix this you need to keep your images square, so same height and same width. For images where this might not be practical (wine bottle for example) within Photoshop or similar, place the image onto a white square background and save - for example...

Give it a try on one page first, but fairly sure that should sort it!!

I couldn't see this when I looked, so did you sort it? If not, upload a screen grab and I'll take a look...

I had exactly this same issue and was in shock and disappointed initially especially as my older landscape images were smaller than V1 in the lightbox too. I would also imagine you could get your lightbox images much bigger if your original image is a large enough dimension? Your images dont look very sharpe so perhaps this isnt possible unless you have access to the original images?

I had lots of discussions with BP and ultimately Mikey is right images should be the the same shape, Cate said this to me "In terms of product images, best practice is to ensure all images are all the same size and all the same shape - for instance, making all large/zoom images 1200px x 1200px square. Then the main, thumbnail and basket images will also all be the same size and shape. This ensures everything displays consistently across the site. If they are different shapes, so some are square and some are landscape rectangles, then some images will display smaller than expected."

Lots of my products are long in shape so I had the same issue as the wine bottle, a long image doesnt fit into a landscape or square shape. I have more recently been using 4:3 ratio for images and I decided to photograph certain categories in that format in portrait and make them work in that shape, I do put a landscape image in too on the product but not as the main image, my product is very very visual and generally large so I need good images. I have some older products in landscape which are small on category pages with big gaps between the lines of products on the category pages when mixed in with the new portrait images but over time they will be sold and drop off the system as all our products are one off items and we have hundreds and I just cant rephoto everything as its months and months of work!
