Afternoon,
Well we finally went live and everything is good in the world and the support from Bluepark has been absolutely amazing.
So today I have come unstuck. An associate has come to order a part which we have set to preorder and hit a wall.
I thought we had tested all our products thoroughly but we didn't test preorders. I am not sure where the problem actually lies.
So he messaged me and said he was unable to checkout. He is on a Google Pixel 6 which has a viewport size of 412px x 892px so I've checked this out for myself in Chrome Inspector.
I have tried this on iOS also and am confident that this issue only exhibits itself for preorders.
On preorders, the potential buyer placing an order receives the message, "The delivery method you have specified is invalid for your location" despite not having been able to select a delivery method. It seems to default to one of our shipping methods set for "UK remote" locations. The select delivery dropdown defaults to United Kingdom instead of showing delivery methods.0
It terms of E-commerce settings under Settings > Settings. The shipping estimator is set to "manual shipping selection, hide shipping line".
The product has variants and they are set to SPO The Release Date is set to 22/04/2024.
Another issue but it probably does this because the item is SPO is that it if I actually set a quantity within the variants then the various shipping options do appear. However, the odd customer might get confused if they have clicked on preorder and then a next day delivery option is telling them it will arrive by a date in advance of the release date.
This is why I believe the variants should be left at SPO. A customer may very well want an item the day following the release date and opt to upgrade their postage.
I think what I am imagining is probably a bespoke situation?
However, the immediate thing for me to resolve is not being able to proceed to checkout because it is saying the delivery method is invalid.
Any ideas / test suggestions would be very welcome.
EDIT:
I have also noticed this in the delivery estimator - 2 United Kingdoms.
It appears that the item is somehow defaulting to a UK Remote shipping method as mentioned before and I cannot see what is causing that.
Upon further testing, I can see that a customer CAN order an SPO item if they are located in Guernsey or Jersey but cannot if they are located in the UK.
This suggest that it is an issue with the shipping methods themselves. I've tried selecting Catch-all on the UK Economy to no avail.
I've even tried changing partial postcodes matches from Required to Excluded and vice versa.
I simply cannot get it to be purchasable. It's obviously something I am not considering.
