How can I do this, please? Sales percentage to charity?

Hi everyone, not been around for ages as mega busy with home stuff as well as work, I hope everyone is well.

I am a member of a support group for disabled children that is a registered charity.

I would like to give 10% donations from my sales to the other group members and their friends and family. So I would not be giving a discount to the buyer but to the charity so no money would need to be deducted when they buy.

Is this possible at all? Do I need to set up an affiliate link and give them some sort of code to visit my site? I am a bit confused by that Affiliate page so any advice you can give me would be great as I'd like to help out because of all the help and support they have given me.

I have no experience in this area but I would guess that the simplest thing to do is make a banner for site saying that you donate a percentage of each sale to the charity. You could also add a line to all the emails that confirm an order to advise a customer. On the other side of things, though I would advise checking with the charity re any legal implications. We are so regulated now, it is very easy to break a law without knowing it.... and there may be something else you need to do to be legally compliant.

Yes, I need to clear it with them but I need to be sure I can do it before I make the offer. Because I have discounts running I cannot afford to make it 'general' unless I say for them not to use both together, I'd lose out as some things I am selling a little over cost to justify the 10% discount - IYSWIM.

I know that others who advertise in the group magazine do the same thing so I would have thought it would be fine to do so.

I tried setting up some sort of affiliate link but it would not let me do it on BP so that has to come via another site I guess. I am just confused about how to do it. Unless I get the site to add me as a link and that be the referral. Anyone have any ideas??

We support Breast Cancer Charity, so when it is Wear it Pink Week, we put an 'addition' of £2.50 to each order, this shows in checkout and if the customer wishes to donate, they can....not quite the same as your 10% but an idea to consider?

Thanks for that Angela - the simple ideas are the best, never realised, actually, just didn't think.... we are planning to do a charity donation in the future and wanted it to be voluntary - saves me having to use my brain, which may be a good thing under the circumstances
