    Another discount question

    Hi All

I have a 20% discount offer set up when you buy 4 or more products. I have also created a customer who has 40%% set up in the discount manager but has it only applied to him.

The 40% is being applied to the individual as it should be, but he is also getting the 20% on top of that, when he buys the 4 products.

Does anybody know how I can stop this happening - i.e. I only want the 40% to apply and not the 20%?

    Kind regards,
    Simon

    Hi Simon

Sounds like a "feature" to me, that Rich might need to look at. I thought there was a parameter somewhere that stops multiple discounts being applied, but I can't find it.

The only way I can think of stopping this happening in the short term is if both of these discounts work off a discount code - i.e. the customer has to manually enter the code at checkout time. As only one code at a time can be used, your customer will only get his 40% as he won't be able to add the 20% code as well. Not ideal, as it forces people to enter a code rather than have it automatically, but the best I can come up with at the mo.

    Regards

      Hi Pete

Thanks for that solution. I don't think this will be practical for what I want to do, but I am sure it will come in handy in future offers!

I found this in the help file:

"User-specific discounts always override general discounts open to everyone. Discounts assigned to each user must not contain conflicting products or categories"

I think I must have done something wrong as thats not working for me.

        Got it!

I thought I would post this just in case anybody else has the same problem.

In my situation I created another offer which is exactly the same as the first offer but with 0% discount. I added this to the user as a user discount. This now overrides the general discount, leaving this user with 40% all the time as when the override kicks in it just adds 0% to his 40%.

This may all sound a bit double dutch but If you have the same problem I think it will make sense!

Good thinking! How did you add the discount specifically to the user - I can't see an option to do that?

Would it not be User > User Manager > Click on a name > Discounts

Unless Simon did it a different way?
