    Google taxonomy

I've only just seen that the taxonomy was changed in January.

Does this mean I should to go through every product and change the old category to the new category or will the old categories suffice?

and when did the full taxonomy option appear so that you can now do search in Firefox? a vast improvement that doesn't seem to have been announced by BP.

That option has always been there, it probably stands out more now as we added a line below it to separate it from the taxonomy list. We've been working on the Channels tab recently.

Anyone? is there any need to change to new categories for those that are now different?

My thought is that if Google spends the time to do something then you should make use of it because there will be a reason. It may not be clear straight away but with the way that Google shopping is heading then if you want to be listed well without paying over the odds then you should probably tow the line.

OMG !! I've just seen how many new categories there are ..... which means that nearly ALL of my products need to be reclassified. It's going to take FOREVER !!!

Yes loads are different for me too - I'm just doing it with new products - lazy me!
I suppose if I had the guts to do export import it might be easier but this old dog isn't good at new tricks

Google shopping searches are not yet category specific in the UK, (they are in the US) I think they are waiting till the free displays are finished, this month I think, before they start to move to a more specific shopping channel.

The work isn't to bad though - find the google cats you need, then do the lot with a csv file, doesn't take long. Honest!

I'm too scared to do the import /export thing as well !! But I might have to bite the bullet eventually because so many product categories will need updating. To do it all manually would take me weeks I'll wait until next week and then call Cate or James for some help with it - they've had far too much of me phoning them his week

You create an attribute for each of them. Then add to feed.
