Big increase in Royal Mail parcels going missing

Has anyone else noticed a spike in RM items going missing? For the average order value I have, it hasn't been worth it to send things by tracked mail unless it goes over a certain value. Now, I may well have to reconsider as a result. It seems suspicious this is happening when we're being encouraged to use their barcode system - something I've completely ignored til now

Are you sure they are going missing!

Most people can't be bothered to fetch from the Post Office themselves now. If i'm right RM never attempt a second delivery, even tho they probably visit your house the next day!

We also have had a spike in missing items but as Neil says it's normally because they can't be bothered to pick up from the post office.

If someone had a card through their door saying that they need to collect their item from the Post Office - would they contact us (The seller) to say their parcel hadn't turned up/was missing?

The problem is Terry sometimes the postman runs out of cards or just can't be bothered to leave a card, we know this because it has happened to us!

It's quite common that they can't be bothered to leave a card. It's also quite normal for them not to get a signature on "signed for" items because they can't be bothered to wait for someone to answer the door so they just stick it through the letterbox, I estimate that happens on around 1 in 10 "signed for" items.

Well, if they cant be bothered to get a signature, and its signed for - surely, you have nothing to worry about if a customer says they haven't received their parcel?

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. If a customer says they haven't received it and we can't prove any different then it's down to us to replace or refund.

The problem is when you try to claim of Royal mail they want so much info and it takes so much time it's not worth it and they have made it like this on purpose to stop you! Much better to refund and just keep adding new products etc.

Although parcel sized items have gone missing too, I've noticed a particularly higher rate of letter sized items going missing. As these go through the letterbox, the postman not leaving a card wouldn't be an issue here. Somebody somewhere has an ink pad & iridescent film fetish

...........and they wear a fascinator so should easily be spotted!
