Google not finding mobile version of site

We have had a sudden increase of mobile usability issues in the Google Search Console but I can see by the URL that they are taking the result from the full site rather than following the link to the mobile site. I think the Google bot may be following the full site link at the bottom of the page but don't know how this can be stopped.Has anyone else experienced this?

What do you mean by this? The links for the desktop and mobile sites should be the same.

In the footer at the bottom of the mobile template there is a link back to the desktop template which has ?full=1 at the end of the url. If you click on it it takes you to the same page but in the desktop template. It seems that Google is crawling that link but not understanding that it has moved off the mobile site. I have not made any changes that should affect the link, so this has got to be either the Google bot going where it shouldn't or perhaps a change on BP.
