RS Vapour - Site now live!

Please visit www.rsvapour.com and have a look at our new website, its my first e-commerce venture and would appreciate any feedback at all, good and bad!

I've dipped in and out of these forums over the last few months for advice, answers, tips etc so would like to offer a discount to all Bluepark users.

Please use code "bp10" for 10% off all products on our site.

    Many thanks

Nice site - well done and welcome to Bluepark. My only comment is that I would recommend that you put your business address on the Contact Us page. I see you have it on the About us page. Buyers like to know who they are dealing with.

        Hi Simon
Ok, how can I say this without p***ing you off, I know how hard it is to design a good looking site and the hours you will of put in but you need to look at your site against others in your market... i'm sorry to say I think yours looks very old looking, like a site might of looked 5 years ago.

http://www.vapourlites.com/ is one you could copy fairly easily with Bp, http://www.cloudcig.co.uk/ http://www.vipelectroniccigarette.co.uk/ etc etc. These site look very good. When you are starting out don't worry about copying others, it's a way of getting going without spending to much time or money.

Another thing is I have no idea what a "rs vapour" is, am I right to be comparing your site with other e cigarette websites, there would be nothing wrong with putting a strap line under your logo (that need work also) saying something like "ecigs, the healthy way to smoke" or something like that.

Your product pages have lots of spec/tech but no description's, I love to see a personal description of a product etc, this will help with Google ranking as well.

The main banner on the home page I think should show people using your products, people smoking but in a light happy healthier way.

Anyway, I know myself that everyone has an opinion on how you can make your website/business better and I maybe very wrong with my opinion of your site but unless someone is hard you will never make it better.
I truly wish you the best.
        Gary

            Greg,

Don't worry, I wouldn't copy someone elses site. It's good to look at other sites for ideas but I wouldn't just grab someone elses hard work and call it my own.

            Cheers
            Simon

              gary,

I really appreciate the feedback, both critical and complimentary, I actually agree with you, I am in no way a designer, art was my worst subject and I can't even decide what colour socks to wear some days! I will take a look at some other websites for ideas, but I won't just copy someone as that's a bit unfair to the hard work they have put in imo.

              Thanks again

              Simon

I actually quite like the site, and to me it looks pretty clean and easy to navigate around. And if you haven't ever dabbled in e-commerce before, then I think its a credit to you. It isn't at all easy, and can be quite intimidating initially, and you will, over time, discover so many features that you can take advantage of with BP - I still keep coming across things I didn't know over a year on!! Welcome to BluePark, loads of fantastic support via the forum, and the service and support from BP is second to none - personally, I am so so pleased that I came across to BluePark.

Well done Simon, and I hope your business is very successful for you

Sorry, when I said "copy" I think I mean "get ideas"...lol and yes you are doing great and the way the site works is great due to BP etc but it takes time to make a site look good.

                    Terry,

Thanks for the positive comments there, and no I haven't done any e-commerce or web design before, so it's been a steep learning curve. I am still coming across new things every day as you said, implementing them may take me longer though

I agree with you on the support from here and Bluepark, BP are amazing, always answering quickly and concisely whenever I have a query. I did a few "trials" of other ecommerce sites but am glad I found this one.

It is a big learning curve (we've all been there!) - and "getting ideas" is a perfectly valid way to develop your skills and your website. Good luck!

Looking good, certainly a very solid start, there's always time to play around with how things look later, but you have everything there you need, I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at it if I was buying. One thing that does put me off though, Gary mentioned it earlier, is the lack of descriptions. I see all the specs of the products, but still don't actually know what they're for or what they do!
I've been vaping since I stopped smoking the beginning of this year, and would love to see more description, and maybe some blog / news posts about your products, original content will do you favours with search engines and your customers will be more inclined to stay and find out more.
